What everyone gets wrong about consumer health

May 7, 2026

To butcher Tolstoy: Every health app is alike, but every user wants to get healthy in their own unique way.

The standard response is to niche down—go narrow and deep. But that's exactly wrong for consumer health post-LLM. People aren't JUST their sleep, food, exercise, stress, medication, scheduling, or motivation. The true friction lives in the messy interplay between all of them.

So rather than pare Nori down for just one problem, we've gone broad and agentic: helping real people through all their real messiness.

Enter Nori 2.0, the first truly personal health agent

Nori helps you get healthier, whatever it takes— using your own data, wearables, and the apps you already use. Every interaction makes Nori better for you, and helps us learn what actually works for people with similar goals and constraints.

It's early, so sample sizes are still small—but users are seeing real outcomes:

  • Engaged users walk ~350 more steps a day after starting Nori (same people, before vs after, while less-engaged cohorts drifted down).
  • 21% have lost more than 3% of body weight—a meaningful clinical signal.
  • Early signals across cardiometabolic markers (LDL, HDL, fasting glucose) are directionally positive, though sample sizes are still small.

In the last month, daily active users are up 65% and messaging is up 131%. Both are accelerating. And retention is growing—50% of users are still active in week 4.

A full agent rewrite

Nori 2.0 is a full agent rewrite. On the backend, it's an in-house memory and personalization stack tuned for health. On the frontend, we've built proactive 2-way messaging via iMessage + WhatsApp, a smart daily journal, deep calendar sync with Google and Apple, more integrations, and brand-new designs across every screen.

We shipped all of this in 8 weeks with a team of 4. Iterating fast and shipping multiple times each day.

What's next

Giving Nori even more agency. Nori will book appointments, rebalance your calendar around your sleep, or plan & order your meals. And we're building an in-house corpus of medical research to ground Nori's recommendations.

In the future, everyone will have a personal health agent. Nori 2.0 is our latest step toward that future: where "machines of loving grace" help billions of people live longer, healthier, fuller lives.

I don't say this often enough, but: I'm really proud of what we've built. And I would absolutely love to hear your feedback.
